Remember in the old days of blogging when people weren't fake? I mean a person could be a clueless idiot, a conceited snob, or an irredeemable jerk, but you could still be pretty sure that they were a real person.

Now that the AI bots have taken over, the internet is dead. It has once been said that God is dead, but that was a lie.

What's happening now is that there is a full throttle attack being orchestrated against free speech, and a controlled demolition against access to uncensored information. It's like the burning of the Great Library of Alexandria unfolding right before our eyes.

Yes, the dump has been hot, but we all know it's a guy.

Speaking in cold. Can you figure it out?

Anyway, being the conspiracy theory connoisseur that I am, it was only a matter of time before I stumbled upon the flat earth conspiracy. And we all know the earth is a globe, right? Yeah, so says the same people that say that the vaccine is safe and effective.

I know it's crazy, and I know that swearing on a bible in a court of law, and testifying under oath, that you honestly, truly believe from the bottom of your heart, that the earth is flat, can actually get you committed into an insane asylum.

I mean if you are a complete loser that no one cares about, you'll probably get away with it, because everyone will just assume that you're either crazy or stupid or extremely gullible, and not pay any attention to it, but if you are a smart person with a good reputation, well, as they say in the movie GoodFella: fuggedaboutit.

It's an interesting picture, isn't it? What do you think it means?

I Almost Forgot

I've been freelancing for at least ten years now, and longer, if you count the brief period of time I spent playing poker online for real money, and living off the earnings.

It was almost 20 years ago, but for the most part, the majority of my freelance work has been supplemental income, meaning that I already had a job, and the freelance income was extra money.

Now let's fast forward into the future.

2024 is the first year in my life that I've ever attempted to survive entirely from freelance income.

Well, it's been a struggle, and some would say a complete disaster, because in this time my savings has been getting smaller and smaller and not growing at all.

I had one month where I made significantly more than my previous 40 hour a week job. Then I had another month that I made less in a month than I had previously made in a week.

It's been a roller coaster.

Of course, it doesn't help that I don't really have a professional skill to fall back on. I'm not a computer programmer, or a graphic designer, or a public accountant. And I'm obviously not a construction worker, plumber, or electrician. I'm just someone with above average intelligence who has scraped by doing jobs that I really don't care about doing, but am able to do with above average performance.

Doing freelance work may sound emancipating at first, but I guess it depends on what work you do and the people you work for, but in my case what I'm doing right now puts me at the mercy of people and organizations that I have absolutely zero influence over.

I'm just a cog in the machine, even worse than before when I actually had some job security, and if they can find someone else to do the job more cheaply than you do, and are able to do it at a minimum level of performance without completely screwing things up, well then, I guess you won't be making any money from them anymore.

Redneck

I've finally deciphered the riddle of the redneck.

As an outdoorsy Wisconsinite, now living in the state of Arizona, I've never considered myself a redneck. In my mind, whether right or wrong, being a redneck was synonymous with being white trash.

White trash equals not just being poor, but also being stupid and ignorant.

But I don't think that's the case.

Just like not all black people are stupid, not all rednecks are stupid.

So, what exactly is a redneck?

Typically it is a term used to describe white people, who live in rural conditions, who usually don't have a lot of money, and who don't have a lot of status.

You know if you are white and rich and love being close to nature, living outside in your log cabin, in your tree house, or your yurt, whatever, you probably won't be called a redneck, instead you'll be called rustic, and outdoorsy, and free spirited, and your neck won't be red, unless you fell asleep while sun bathing on the beaches of Tahiti.

Redneck is a term typically applied to white people, of Northern European decent, typically males, with light eyes, usually blue or green, and fair skin, who live in an environment in which they are genetically ill adapted, such as a place that is hot and sunny much of the year, who due to either poverty, or ignorance fail to protect their skin from long-term sun damage. Meaning that when they are outside, and it is very hot outside, and they are wearing minimal clothing, the first place to burn, or to show signs of burning due to long term exposure, is the neck.

Hence the term redneck. That's all it is, which if you think about it could be perceived as being a racial slur against white people.
