YouTube Channel Coming Soon?

So, it's been awhile. I just haven't felt like writing anything here. I typically don't write my posts in advance, I just do it live, on the fly. Where I just sit down and write in the Blogger editor, sort of stream of consciousness style, only editing for clarity and punctuation, and that's about it.

Usually I have some underlying idea, something I feel emotionally compelled to get off my chest, or something I did or plan to do, but a lot of times I just figure it out as I go along.

It's been a really unpleasant summer. Probably one of the worst ones ever. I've been really hot and uncomfortable much of the time, even with the air conditioner running and fans on me. Haven't been sleeping well either, although some days are better than others. And I haven't been exercising much, only because it's been too hot to exercise. But I ride my bike to the store, once or twice a week, and ride fast, so still have some fitness, I'm not completely out of shape, but I was definitely in better shape four months ago, so have to get back to it, going on some long bike rides and long hikes off the beaten path and hopefully some solo camping trips.

I'm really thinking about possibly starting a YouTube channel, and going on some adventures and recording it. I just don't want to show my face, or have my voice recorded, which makes the whole thing slightly complicated, but we'll see what can be done to make it work.

I'm thinking like a reboot of the adventure scout idea. You know I used to have a blog that was sort of a travel blog, but more so just about outdoor activities, day trips, and nature photography. I'd go on a walk or bike ride and I'd write about it and post pictures. I posted some of it here, but mostly it was on the other site, which has long since been deleted, and mostly forgotten about, and I don't even think there is a cached page of it anywhere.

Well, I'd like to do that again, but instead of taking pictures, I'd film it with an action camera. I feel compelled to become an amateur archeologist and investigative journalist and adventure tour guide. I think it would motivate me to go on all sorts of adventures that I wouldn't go on otherwise. After all I do live in a tourist town, with a lot of interesting outdoor scenic attractions, many I've never even been to before despite living here for years. Like the zoo. I've never been to the zoo here before, even though I used to go to the zoo all the time in my hometown when I was a kid. There's also several parks I haven't been to. So, I'd really like to do that, go on some adventures, hiking, biking, longboarding, running, maybe even go on a trip outside of the city, and filming it but without actually recording myself speak.

You see that's the thing. I want complete creative freedom to express myself, but I'm also aware that in this age of heightened censorship, AI deepfake technology, and the prospect of identity theft, I also don't want to completely lose the protection of anonymity. You know do I use my real name? Do I use a pseudonym? Do I show my face, do I speak? Because once you go public you can't really take it back.

Anyway, besides wanting a reason to go on some local adventures, once the weather cools off a little more, there's several personal achievements I'd like to accomplish. You know mostly athletic, such as run three miles in 30 minutes or less. Ride my bike 100 miles in one day. Stuff like that. If I have an action camera, and a YouTube channel, it might just give me the motivation to accomplish some of these personal goals. Again have to find a balance between how much to share and how much to keep private.

I still plan on creating a website eventually, but since I haven't really been writing much, it just doesn't make sense to spend all that money setting it up, if I'm not ready to give it my full commitment.
